Pillow block bearing is consisted of a double sealed,single row bearing and one of various types of housings,cast iron housing,stampling steel with Nickel plating housing,stainless steel housing,engineering plastic block,zinc alloy block.but normally cast iron housing such as UCP,UCFL,UCT,UCF,UCC etc . The bearing inside is a sphere and the bore of housing is in machined to a matching radius.this permits self-aligning between two members.above figure is a view of a pillow block which is the most popular type of insert ball bearing units with set screw locking.
